(UPDATE) DETAINED former Negros Oriental representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. remained confined at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) as of Tuesday evening, contrary to earlier expectations that he would be discharged before noon and returned to detention under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

He noted that while the former lawmaker continued to experience some abdominal pain, he had been cleared for release and was ready to return to his cell at Annex 2 of the BJMP.“He welcomes the discharge and his return ... if only to silence misguided and malicious critics,” Topacio said in an earlier statement.Topacio added Teves was grateful to his doctors “for giving him the best of care” and to those who wished him well.He is expected to remain under medical watch once back in BJMP custody.
