Degraded forest cover in major parts of the country will once again grow as a major telecommunications firm has committed to support the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in its Forests for Life: 5M Trees by 2028 initiative.The DENR said the program aims to restore degraded lands and build the country’s resilience to natural disasters.
Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, in a statement, said they will contribute through reforestation, community engagement, and other forms of assistance to help ensure the program’s success. Crisanto said protecting the planet is a shared responsibility. With sustained collaboration and active participation, a greener, more sustainable Philippines is within reach, she added.
