A video showing a group of teenagers harassing passengers in a public jeep in Taytay, Rizal, has gone viral, prompting outrage and an investigation.
A video circulating online has sparked outrage after a group of teenagers allegedly harassed passengers in a public jeep in Taytay , Rizal . The footage, uploaded by Cesar Silava, shows at least eight teenagers surrounding a stationary jeep on Manila East Road in Barangay San Juan around 10 p.m. on January 19. One of the teens entered the jeep, while another ran alongside it, while the rest waited nearby. Another teenager at the front was seen holding a large rock, seemingly hitting a passenger.
The teenagers eventually dispersed, but they pursued the jeep after it drove away. Silava uploaded the video to raise awareness and ensure public safety to prevent similar incidents from happening again. According to the barangay, most of the teenagers involved were aged 14 and 15. Barangay purok chairman Diana Garbida shared that a parent had reached out to the barangay, as three of the teenagers involved were not accompanied by their parents. One of the children reportedly explained that they were chasing someone who was considered an enemy of their group. The barangay clarified that no theft occurred during the incident and they have no record of any such crimes. GMA Integrated News is still attempting to contact the parents of the teenagers involved through the barangay. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are intensifying their patrols in the area. Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlo Solero of the Taytay Police stated that they have deployed police personnel and mobile patrol units in the area to ensure safety.
