A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after shots were fired at a Melbourne home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police said the 17-year-old was sleeping when a"number of shots" were launched towards the Endeavour Hills property from the road or footpath about 1.20am.

Emergency services were called to the property on Janmara Court after being notified the teen had been injured during the incident.
