Supreme court told the boy, then 14, was among a group that attacked Declan Cutler in March 2022
A child who plunged a knife into a 16-year-old and then returned to stomp on the dying boy will spend up to 15 years in prison over his role in the group attack.
The court heard that the group had met up earlier at a house in Tarneit before driving over to the Reservoir party after seeing a series of antagonistic videos posted online. As he lay on the nature strip, some of the group began stabbing Declan, while others stomped and kicked him, the court heard. The teens left in the car, but returned briefly to stomp on Declan again and take his shoes.“The attack was frenzied, savage and totally unprovoked,” justice Elizabeth Hollingworth said on Tuesday, as she sentenced three of the alleged attackers. He admitted stabbing, kicking and stomping on Declan, and removing one of his shoes.
Hollingworth recommended the adult parole board continue to hold the boy in the youth justice system until he turns 21.
