Although his crew suffered major losses in ONE Championship, Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao sees the personal and professional setbacks as lessons learned.
Team Lakay built some impressive momentum in 2019, but the coronavirus pandemic slowed its stride inside and outside the ONE Championship circle.
“On the negative side, of course, our economy took a huge hit. A lot of people lost their jobs. [But] at the same time, we're happy that ONE Championship is back and we're able to work." But it's not the first time the team has hit the wall, and Sangiao is confident that like any other time in the past, they'll find a way to break through.
However, Sangiao believes that the biggest takeaway this year won't be seen in their win-loss record or the world titles in their trophy cabinet.
