Drag artist Taylor Sheesh, whose real name is Mac Coronel, said on Monday, April 8, that he was still traumatized after an assault incident at a concert in Pangasinan.Videos circulating online showed Sheesh being tackled and pushed during a festival in Bayambang where he was performing.
Taylor Sheesh is known for his drag performances impersonating award-winning American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Bayambang Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao responded swiftly, condemning the incident and assuring that appropriate action would be taken.“I will not tolerate homophobic behavior and physical abuse in my town,” the mayor wrote. “I will ensure justice is served. I am sorry to Taylor Sheesh that someone assaulted her during her performance.”
Mayor Quiambao further stated in a separate video that the assailant had been identified and charges were being prepared against him.“We will ensure justice prevails. This person is currently in custody, and charges will be filed against him, including by Taylor Sheesh.”
