ILOILO CITY — The Regional Task Force Kanlaon has issued a mandatory evacuation order for families within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) of Mt. Kanlaon.
ILOILO CITY — The Regional Task Force Kanlaon has issued a mandatory evacuation order for families within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone of Mt. Kanlaon.Residents in La Castellana, La Carlota City, Bago City, and San Carlos City in Negros Occidental and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental have until Dec. 16 to evacuate.As of Dec. 15, the task force already achieved an 81 percent evacuation rate, covering 3,066 families or 12,316 individuals within the PDZ.
In Negros Oriental, 1,243 families or 4,041 persons are seeking shelter in evacuation shelters.The 6-kilometer danger zone now includes San Carlos City in the northeast part of Negros Occidental.The OCD said that they are targeting to evacuate all 100 percent of the total population inside the 6-km PDZ on Monday, Dec. 16.La Castellana, located at the foot of the volcano, has the biggest number of evacuated families with a total of 2,564 or 8,188 individuals from five barangay.
