PETALING JAYA: Young mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei continued their march in the Swiss Open by reaching the quarter-finals in Basel on Thursday (Mar 23).
Tang Jie-Ee Wei, the world No. 25, came from a game down to beat He Jiting-Du Yue of China 11-21, 21-14, 21-14 in 47 minutes.
However, men’s doubles world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik crashed out in the second round when they lost 21-17, 16-21, 17-21 to Akira Koga-Taichi Saito of Japan in 64 minutes. Aaron-Wooi Yik also lost to the same pair in the second round of the German Open in Mulheim two weeks ago. In the women’s doubles, independent pair Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien lost 21-13, 15-21, 12-21 to South Koreans Baek Ha-na-Lee So-hee in the second round.
