Taguig City local officials led by Mayor Laarni Cayetano took part in the celebration of National Arbor Day 2024 by organizing a tree-planting event.
Over 200 seedlings and saplings of Tabebuia Rosea, also known as pink trumpets, were planted along the center island of C6 Road, Laguna Lake Highway in Barangay Lower Bicutan. National Arbor Day is observed annually on June 25 and aims to encourage Filipinos to plant trees and ornamental plants to help foster a healthier ecosystem through environmental rehabilitation and re-greening efforts.
More than 200 participants from city offices, including the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Agriculture Office, Lake and River Management Office, and City Parks and Recreation Office, worked together to plant the seedlings along the highway. Taisho Pharmaceutical Philippines, the private partner in the project, was represented by their president, Peng Jiang, who donated 180 tree guards to protect the young saplings, ensuring their growth and survival. The company also contributed 10 Tabebuia saplings and 15 bags of loam soil to support the initiative.
