The hunger rate in the Philippines 'hardly moved' from the second to the third quarter of 2022, according to the latest Social Weather Stations conducted during President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s first few months in office.Results of an SWS survey from September 29 to October 2 – the first under Marcos – showed 11.3 percent of Filipino families or around 2.9 million had nothing to eat at least once in the past three months, almost similar to the 11.
8 percent hunger rate in December 2021 , both under the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.'However, it is still 1.3 points above the 10 percent in September 2021, and 2.0 points above the pre-pandemic annual average of 9.3 percent in 2019,' SWS said.The survey was based on face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide, with 300 each from Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao, and 600 from Balance Luzon.The margin of error for national percentages is ±2.
