This marked the first time she dropped a set in Doha since 2022, halting a streak of 25 consecutive set wins.
Despite the setback, Swiatek extended her winning streak at the tournament to 14 matches.The five-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged Noskova's impressive performance, stating, 'I would say Linda played amazing, and for sure she didn't make it easy for me.' Swiatek also recognized the challenge ahead in facing Rybakina, who defeated her in the final last year. She anticipated a tough match, expecting 'intense rallies, some low balls, and good serving' from Rybakina.Noskova, a 20-year-old semifinalist in Abu Dhabi last week, dominated the first set tie-break and seemed poised for an upset. However, Swiatek regained control in the second and third sets, despite facing a break point while serving for the second set. In the final set, Swiatek recovered from a 0-30 deficit and secured a crucial break, ultimately closing out the victory.Earlier on Wednesday, Rybakina advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-6 (7/1), 6-2 win over Slovakia's Rebecca Sramkova. The fifth seed from Kazakhstan, who won Wimbledon in 2022, faced an inconsistent start in the first set but prevailed in the tie-break.Rybakina's coach, Stefano Vukov, remains banned following an investigation into alleged breaches of the WTA code of conduct. Jasmine Paolini, the fourth seed, also exited the tournament after a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Jelena Ostapenko.
