That should give it an extra star
The Suzuki S-Presso has had a rather interesting journey when it comes to safety. The mini hatchback made headlines for all the wrong reasons when the Global New Car Assessment Program first tested in November 2020. The safety organization gave it zero stars at the time, adding that there is no excuse for automakers to end up with such a score.
A few years later, Suzuki made improvements to the car, garnering it a three-star rating. That said, it barely made it to three stars, but at least there’s better protection for the front occupants. It’s better than getting no stars at all, that’s for sure.Segway officially opens new showroom in BGCThis year, it might gain another star, or at least have a more convincing three-star rating. That’s because the S-Presso gains a very important safety feature in its latest update.
Before you get too excited, it’s not Advanced Driver Assist Systems . This is still a budget car, after all. That said, it does get a different form of active safety thanks to the addition of stability control.It’s only for the Indian market, at least for now. On top of that, Maruti Suzuki, the manufacturer of the S-Presso, has added that vital feature standard to all of its models. A step in the right direction, we say.
Fingers crossed we get that safety upgrade for the Philippine-spec Suzuki S-presso. These days, stability control is becoming more common in cars, even in budget models, and it would be great if even budget models would get that too.
