A man allegedly involved in a scam offering government positions in exchange for a large sum of money was nabbed by authorities in Taguig City.
Members of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested suspect Edward Vincent Diokno Eje, alias Vaughn Monton Vincent, on Monday afternoon after he was reported to have pointed a gun at a motorist over a traffic altercation along 31st Street in Bonifacio Global City.According to PNP-CIDG Director Romeo Caramat Jr.
Eight individuals who fell victim to the scam went to Malacañang on January 27 after receiving a letter from a certain Undersecretary Eduardo Diokno and Assistant Secretary Johnson See advising them that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. would lead their oath-taking. However, the ceremony was revealed to be a sham.
The CIDG chief said Eje will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and RA 9516 or the Laws on Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing in, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives after cops seized a caliber .45mm pistol with a magazine loaded with ammunition and a hand grenade from his possession.
