A fishing boat left to sink at the Tickle wharf near Canso will be removed by the Canadian Coast Guard. - Aaron BeswickCANSO, N.S. — The Canadian Coast Guard is promising to “soon issue a contract” to remove a sunken fishing vessel from a wharf near Canso.
“Environment Canada were in and did their thing," Boudreau said."Coast Guard raised the vessel on two occasions. Then it sunk again, and now its been there for months. “In this case, the vessel owner is unable to respond to the incident, so is planning to issue a contract to remove the vessel and eliminate the threat of pollution,” wrote Bornais.
The Canso Harbour Authority opposed the move at the time. It wanted to take over the wharf from the small-craft harbours branch of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
