The Philippine government is turning to “foreign counterparts” to determine the origin and purpose of a submersible drone or unmanned underwater vehicle
National Security Council Assistant Director General and National Task Force WPS Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya that was recovered by local fishermen off the coast of Masbate last December 30.
It was not clear what countries would be consulted in determining the submersible drone’s origins but, aside from its long-standing ties with the US, the Philippines has recently accelerated its defense ties with Australia, Canada, France, Japan and the United Kingdom, among others. However, when asked whether the drone shows conclusive signs that it came from China, he stated that there was no “definitive result yet.”
