Davao City's committee on environment, led by Councilor Temujin 'Tek' Ocampo, is pushing for a study on incentivizing electric vehicle use to reduce carbon emissions. The initiative aims to promote a slow transition to cleaner transportation options without phasing out existing vehicles.

THE Sangguniang Panlungsod 's committee on environment wants to conduct a study on the advantages of electric vehicles , in a bid to incentivize their use within Davao City .Councilor Temujin “Tek” Ocampo, chairperson of the committee on environment, said during his privilege speech that the use of electric vehicles is now a trend, and a shift to greener transportation should be considered within the city because it reduces carbon emissions and is not affected by the rising prices of fuel.

Ocampo said that since the push for further studies on the promotion of electric vehicles in Davao City was approved in the first reading, their next move is to invite EV manufacturers to shed light on the advantages and even disadvantages of EV use.Depending on the findings of the committee hearing, the committee may recommend incentives for EV use.Aside from manufacturers, they are also open to inviting the transport sector and other concerned stakeholders regarding EV use.
