March 11 event is in celebration of International Women's Day 2023
The Sudbury Women's Centre will celebrate International Women's Day 2023 with the community in-person for the first time since 2020 through its Strength in Sisterhood Gala. It features a night of local entertainment, a sit-down dinner and a silent auction. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the dinner starting at 6 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the SWC as it continues to serve the city's most vulnerable.
“When our community comes together, our clients flourish!” said SWC executive director Giulia Carpenter, in a press release. “The Strength in Sisterhood Gala is a way for us to not only celebrate International Women's Day in person again, but it is also a way for our community to celebrate the continued efforts of our Centre to empower, educate, and elevate our clients! We could not be more excited for this next event – we have missed coming together to celebrate women!”
SWC is currently seeking donations for its silent auction. Anyone interested in making a donation, or becoming involved in a different capacity, is asked to phone 705-673-1916, ext. 104, or rae-anne.neville@sudbury.ca. The Sudbury Women’s Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing information, referral and support services to women who have been impacted by violence and/or difficult life circumstances.
The staff and volunteers at the SWC offer a safe space, inclusive and respecting of diversity, to support women in their journey.
