Kimberley residents are set to be evacuated from flooded communities, as Horizon Power confirms the main power circuit in Fitzroy Crossing has been switched off due to rising water levels.

There has been severe flooding of the Fitzroy River, with a new record high water level at Fitzroy Crossing. Main Roads WA operations director Peter Sewell said he expected the Great Northern Highway, the only road in and out of Broome, to close due to high water levels.This morning both the highway and Cape Leveque Road – leading to the Dampier Peninsula – remain open, but motorists are asked to take extreme caution.
