MANILA, Philippines — Talent management Star Magic has issued a statement in defense of their talent, Fyang Smith, following the circulation of “maliciously edited videos and images” that have surfaced online.
The statement released on Saturday described the incident as a deliberate act meant to damage Smith ’s image and credibility. 'It has come to our attention that maliciously edited videos and images of our talent, Fyang Smith , have been circulating online,' the agency stated. “ Star Magic condemns the act of illegally manipulating videos and/or photos of celebrities or anyone, moreso when intended mainly to damage a person's name, image and reputation,” they added.
The welfare of our talents is our top priority, and we intend to pursue legal action against the perpetrators and anyone who posts, distributes, or duplicates these videos and images,” Star Magic said. “Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, even on social media,” it added. The 19-year-old has been a target of digitally altered media, especially spliced videos that are taken out of context or deliberately edited to deceive viewers.
