Qualico Communities to break ground this spring on new community that will be home to 5,000 people.
Qualico Communities recently purchased Southbow Landing, a 545-acre parcel of land slated to become a comprehensive master-planned community. The community has been in the works for almost a decade, but stalled shortly after receiving its Neighbourhood Plan approvals from the Town of Cochrane in 2015. Qualico will be retaining much of the flavour of the original owners’ vision and will be following through on the previously approved Neighbourhood Plan, but will be making some minor revisions. The community will be built over 15 phases, and will include three school sites and a large commercial node in the western portion of the site, which will house a broad selection of offerings including a grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants and services, as well as industrial/corporate offerings.

With Cochrane’s incredible growth over the past two decades — its population has recently crested 35,000, up from just 11,173 in 2000 — comes a great need for amenities, especially on the town’s south side.
