An overstaying South Korean fugitive was arrested in Cebu over his alleged involvement in telecommunications fraud, according to the Bureau of Immigration .In a news release, the BI said authorities nabbed suspect Kang Hyeunok, 32, in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City on August 14.
The syndicate’s telemarketers reportedly disguised themselves as bankers and managed to induce victims into revealing personal information which they used to defraud and gain illegal profits.The BI board of commissioners issued a deportation warrant against the suspect in October 2021 for being an undesirable alien. He was also found to be an overstaying alien after records showed he arrived in the Philippines in July 2019 and did not depart since.
