The South African national who was killed by a falling tree branch in a Darwin park has been remembered as a “beacon of joy and positivity” who had an “adventurous spirit and a zest for life”. Angelique de Wet and her husband Collin Andrew were both hit by the branch at the George Brown Botanic Gardens on Sunday. Paramedics attended the scene however De Wet, 28, could not be revived. Andrew, 33, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
It described De Wet as a “vibrant” young woman with an “adventurous spirit and a zest for life”. “She was more than just a happy-go-lucky lady; she was a beacon of joy and positivity,” the association said. “Her infectious laughter, warm smile, and kind-hearted nature endeared her to many.” A fundraiser has been set up by the association on behalf of the couple’s families, with over $6000 raised so far.
