Kleven won\u0027t be in the Senators lineup on Monday when the team faces the Florida Panthers at home, but it\u0027s possible he will make his NHL debut as early as Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
“He’s just a big, rangy defenceman who’s very strong out there and he’s a big hitter,” centre, Kleven’s teammate for two seasons at UND, said on Sunday. “He’s a very skillful hitter, he’s going to bring that physical presence and a nice quiet confidence.Kleven closed out his third season at UND with eight goals and 18 points in 35 games. He will get a couple of more skates with the team before the coaching staff decides if he’s ready.
“There’s just a lot of little details to the game that you’ve got to be successful in at the NHL level,” Pinto said. “That, and the speed is definitely faster. You’ve got to be quicker at making decisions. In college, you can get away with a bit, but here you’ve got to be pretty detailed or you’re going to get exposed.”Article content“That’s huge.
