San Miguel Beer is bringing in former Memphis Grizzlies forward Jordan Adams as its new import for the Governors Cup of PBA Season 49.
The 30-year-old Adams is coming in to take the spot of Lithuanian Tauras Jogela.SMB team manager Gee Abanilla said the import change was a decision that had to be made by the coaching staff in response to the four-point shot that is set to be implemented by the PBA this coming season.'Coaches opted for a different strategy because of the four-point shot,' Abanilla told the Manila Times. With Adams, the Beermen expect a solid outside shooter as evidenced by the former UCLA Bruin's 41.
He won the three-point shooting contest in the IBL this season.Dewa United earned the top seed in the IBL playoffs, but got upset by Satria Muda in the semifinals. Satria Muda eventually reached the Finals, but bowed to the Justin Brownlee and KJ McDaniels-led Pelita Jaya, which won the league championship just last week.Adams, the 2014 NBA Draft 22nd overall pick of the Grizzlies, averaged 23 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists for Dewa United in 31 games.
