Sipalay City’s first ever entry to the Green Destinations Top 100 Sustainability Stories - Thriving Communities Category got selected and was officially announced at the unveiling ceremony in Tallin, Estonia, on October 9, 2023. “Lakbayon Women Steps Toward Sustainability” was the official entry of the city in the said competition.
Lakbayon Women’s Beach Clean-up Volunteer Project, under the Sipalay City Council for Women, started in 2000 and is composed of volunteer single mothers, teenagers, students, wives of fishermen, and abled senior citizens. The consistent clean-up drive has resulted in positive impacts in the environmental, social, and economic areas of the city.
