RED LAKE, Ont. – The Kam River Fighting Walleye weren’t about to give up their undefeated record without a fight.
The Fighting Walleye score four goals in a 3:04-second, third-period span to rally back from four goals down late in the final stanza, and Holden Woodcroft potted the overtime winner 2:29 into the extra frame to earn Kam River a stunning 6-5 win over the defending champion Miners. But Euan Morrison, Anthony Oviedo, Ethan Lang and Carson Gorst each found a way to put the puck past Red Lake goaltender Jaxson Taupert over the course of 184 seconds to send the game to overtime.
The Fighting Walleye improved to 5-0-0 with the win and will take on Red Lake in a Saturday rematch at the Cochenour Arena.
