There's a movie premiere in Digby this month. And it tells the story of a storied Nova Scotia community.

HALIFAX, N.S. — February is African Nova Scotia History and Heritage Month. And we know the government of Nova Scotia has offered some plans for the Africville Museum. But I really wanted to speak with someone who's directly involved with some of the educational opportunities. She is executive director of the Africville Museum.

We'd love to bring your film Africville - Can't Stop Now. You talk about it. And I said, What a wonderful idea, because we rarely are on that other end of the province. And also to bring somebody who has lived in Africville and have them share their own personal stories with the crowd, I think is always an added bonus. What is the event going to encompass? You mentioned the speaker, you mentioned the film that will be presented.

And so we talk a lot about that. Celebrating us as people who come from small communities, as people who are continuing to support small communities. And then what is the legacy of this particular community of Africville and what do people have to learn from their story?I know reparations has been a conversation, but the community is the place those conversations have to start.
