CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Shabu continues to be recovered on the West Philippine Sea in the Ilocos region.
The Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Forensic Unit confirmed that the white crystalline substance in an aqua-blue plastic pack surrendered in San Esteban, Ilocos Sur on Sunday, July 7, is shabu.
The contraband weighed 998.42 grams and valued at P6,789,256. It was recovered by a fisherman from Barangay Apatot, San Esteban 18 nautical miles west of the WPS. A fisherman from Burgos, Ilocos Norte also found on Monday, July 8, a light blue plastic pack with the markings “Cai Yu Lin” and red Chinese characters 12 nautical miles west of Barangay Bobon, Burgos.Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista, PRO-1 director, appealed to coastal communities to sightings of similar packs.
“Huwag nating hayaan na makapasok ang anumang uri ng iligal na droga dito sa ating minamahal na rehiyon. Tulong-tulong tayo para sa kaligtasan ng isa’t-isa at para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga anak ,” he said.
