A 65-year-old woman in Lapu-Lapu City is among 50 individuals who availed of free baptismal services offered in a program of the Local Government Unit .In a ceremony at 3 p.m. on October 3, 2024, the senior citizen was baptized along with 49 infants at the Nuestra Señora Virgen de la Regla Parish.The ceremony was graced by city officials led by Mayor Junard Chan.After the ceremony, each family of baptized persons received a “bilao package” with lechon belly.
A “bilao” is a traditional woven winnowing tray used nowadays as a holder for a variety of dishes.The LGU looks forward to additional beneficiaries in the "Libreng Binyagan ng Bayan" next year at 64 persons in line with the 64th Charter Day of the city.According to Catherine Ladaga, officer in charge of the City Social Welfare and Development Office , the requirements to avail of the program will be posted on their social media page.
