Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said there are many reasons to ban Philippine offshore gaming operators based on evidence. | onenewsph
The Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police issued a closure order to an illegal Philippine offshore gaming operator in Angeles City on Sept. 17, 2022 following the rescue of some 40 foreign nationals employed by the entity.
Gatchalian, who chairs the Senate ways and means committee, issued the statement after Marcos indicated he wants a good reason to outlaw POGOs that he said were “not a huge part” of the country’s economy anyway. He said Marcos need not look far for reasons to ban POGOs as Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno himself was steadfast in seeking to ban them, citing their adverse effects on investments.
