The senator urged the Department of Foreign Affairs and Office of the Solicitor General to file a case before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea to seek damages for China’s environmental depredation in Escoda Shoal. “We ask the DFA and the OSG to act fast,” Tolentino said. “We continue to call on each and every Filipino to be united in fighting against what the President succinctly described as the ‘illegal, coercive, aggressive and deceptive’ aggression and propaganda of China,” he added.
“I reiterate that China must respect Philippines’ maritime activities in the area and refrain from engaging in actions that escalate tensions and jeopardize peace and stability in the region,” he added.
