In order not to delay the passage by Congress of the proposed 2020 P4.1 trillion national budget, the Senate will just inform President Duterte of the insertion by the House of Representatives bicameral conference committee panel of billions of pesos worth of pork barrel projects in the Senate-Lower House budget bicameral committee report.
‘’That is the assessment of the Senate. We will leave it to the discretion of the President,’’ Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III told Senate reporters before the start of the Senate plenary session.
Sotto said he does not know where the more than P83 billion of suspected ‘’pork barrel’’ items were placed in the entire 2020 budget.
