The senator highlighted the need for permanent evacuation centers due to the challenges of makeshift sites and renewed his call for the passage of the Department of Disaster Resilience Act.
BEFORE the year ended, Sen. Bong Go dispatched his Malasakit Team to provide relief for Malita, Davao Occidental flood victims on Monday, Dec. 30.In coordination with Vice Mayor Esme Bautista, the Malasakit Team aided 630 affected families from various barangay in the mu-nicipality. Each household received food packs and shirts.Known as Mr.
Go, the principal author, and co-sponsor of Republic Act 12076 or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, emphasized the need for permanent evacuation centers to ensure the safety and dignity of evacuees.'It is time to have safe and well-stocked evacuation centers in every locality. Aside from their safety and health, we also need to protect the dignity of our evacuees,' Go said.The senator also renewed his call for the passage of Senate Bill 188, or the Department of Disaster Resilience Act.
