The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Philippines has reported significant success in its capital formation roadshow, with over 361 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) raising capital through crowdfunding since its launch two years ago. SEC Chairman Emilio B. Aquino highlighted that these efforts generated approximately P2.24 billion in fresh funds for small businesses, and there are at least 358 companies expressing interest in crowdfunding. The SEC also achieved its target of having 888 companies raise capital via the capital market by last November.
The Securities and Exchange Commission said at least 361 micro, small and medium-sized companies have successfully raised capital through crowdfunding, since the start of its roadshow on capital formation two years ago.
The SEC said it also achieved its goal of having at least 888 companies raising capital via the capital market by November last year, in time for SEC’s 88th anniversary celebration. The SEC started its nationwide roadshow in February 2023 in Davao City, and introduced the capital market as an accessible option for MSMEs to finance their operations and promote expansion through crowdfunding and initial public offering, among others.
