– The Leyte Second District Engineering Office is building a seawall that will protect a coastal village in this town.Gerald Pacanan, LSDEO district engineer, told Manila Bulletin that the flood mitigation project in Barangay Luan has a total cost of P17 million.

The project involves the building of embankment along the shoreline which includes 120 meters of prefabricated concrete pile sheeting that would absorb and lessen the force of waves and redirect the water towards the sea.The seawall will also control erosion along the coastline and reduce the dangers from storm surges during strong typhoons.

“It is always the top priority of our office to protect and ensure safety of the people and of the community, especially those that are greatly susceptible to the dangers of flooding during inclement weather conditions,” Pacanan said.
