Sean Johnson put on a goalkeeping clinic in his home state to help lift Toronto FC to a 1\u002D1 draw against host Atlanta United inside a raucous Mercedes\u002DBenz…

For the second game in a row, TFC held a second-half lead on the road but were unable to garner three points. To TFC’s credit, even though they gave up the tying goal, the team showed a tremendous amount of fight in the game — led by the midfield trio of Michael Bradley, Mark-Anthony Kaye and Jonathan Osorio.

Atlanta dominated statistically, recording 16 shots to four by Toronto while the home side held a 67%-33% edge in possession. The Five Stripes also had nine corners while TFC had none. Those stats were certainly telling as Atlanta was the better side, but, again, the overmatched Reds did battle hard.

The two sides battled to a scoreless draw after the first half. The Reds held their own defensively but with Insigne out of the lineup, were unable to muster much of an attack. Bernardeschi proved his worth with his goal though credit has to go to Laryea who ran like the wind down the right side to give the Italian an opening in the middle of the field for the shot.Article contentIn the 59th minute, new Atlanta DP Giorgos Giakoumakis made his MLS debut, substituting in for Miguel Berry.

In the 73rd minute, TFC coach Bob Bradley took Akinola out of the game for 18-year-old homegrown striker Hugo Mbongue, only his second game for TFC.
