Temperatures are set to soar across the west of Scotland this weekend while the south of England is hit with a yellow rain warning.
Scots are set for a sizzling September heatwave this week with temperatures reaching potential highs of 26C in some areas.
The forecast will come as a pleasant surprise to many in the west of Scotland after experiencing one of the wettest summers in a long time, while people in southern and eastern England have enjoyed barbecues and beer gardens in their hot weather.According to Met Office meteorologist Oli Claydon, the mini-heatwave will be caused by a shifting jet stream which will bring high air to the north of Scotland and humid air to accompany it.
"But Scotland will enjoy comfortable temperatures, similar to what was experienced in September last year.
