A warm front is predicted to migrate from France to the UK this month - but will it bring some much needed hot air to Scotland?
New weather maps are forecasting a scorching heatwave for parts of the UK this month - but whether it will reach Scotland is another question.
The maps from the independent metrological forecaster show conditions heating up again on Sunday, August 11, but this will be concentrated in the southeast of England. Scotland's temperatures are set to remain in the mid teens and while those in London and surrounding areas will be basking in the sunshine, Scots will be gearing up for lashings of rain.
On Monday, areas could see a combined 53mm of rainfall in a single day. Its outlook mirrors Met Office predictions which are to remain "unsettled". That's according to its long range forecast, which spans from Saturday August 10 until Monday, August 19. It continued: "Developing low pressure systems are likely to bring showers or longer spells of rain at times, heaviest across western hills. Breezy or strong winds are possible as well, especially along coastal areas. The greatest chance of any settled weather is more likely in the south and east, however, there may still be periods of wet, thundery, or unsettled weather here at times.
