Scattered rains may continue to affect parts of the country due to the prevailing intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) extending across Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao on Monday.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Meno Mendoza said scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains may persist over Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

ITCZ is the area where trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet, characterized by frequent and often severe thunderstorms.Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may continue to experience warm and humid mornings with chances of isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours. Mendoza advised the public to take extra precautions in the event of severe thunderstorms as flash floods or landslides are possible over low-lying or mountainous communities.PAGASA has already lifted the gale warning issued over the coasts of Northern Luzon, thus fisherfolk and seafarers are safe to sail.
