Vanessa Sarno lived up to the lofty billing of being the heir apparent to Hidilyn Diaz, this time copping three gold medals, including the junior’s title in the women’s -71kg, in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship on Friday , July 22 at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Retsu Anggi from Indonesia finished far second with a total lift of 212kgs, powered by a bronze in snatch with 92 and a silver in clear and jerk with 120. Korea’s Kim Hyemin settled for third with a 211kg total after a 93kg lift in snatch and 118 in clean and jerk.
