Sandara Park , widely recognized as Dara from the K-Pop sensation 2NE1 , is returning to the Philippines to host ' Be The Next: 9 Dreamers ,' a highly anticipated talent survival show debuting on February 8th on TV5. In a recent media conference, Park expressed her overwhelming excitement about reconnecting with her 'second home' and embarking on the journey of being the main host for the first time.
'I'm truly thrilled and a bit nervous at the same time because it's a brand-new challenge for me,' she shared. 'I've done a lot on stage — acting, musical shows — but this marks my first foray as the primary host. So, I'm incredibly excited. I'm unsure how I'll fare because, you know, 'krung krung' ako (I'm quirky),' Park enthusiastically admitted. 'But even though I'm not a mentor, I'll act as a supportive older sister and a friend to them. If they experience setbacks or tears, I can be there to offer comfort and remind them of their capabilities,' she continued.Despite her demanding schedule, which includes 2NE1's ongoing 'Welcome Back' tour and solo projects, Park remains resolute in her commitment to excel. 'No more socializing for now, no alcohol, no rest, no vacations, just complete focus. I'm wholeheartedly dedicating myself to my work,' the 40-year-old global star explained. 'Of course, if I have a few spare moments, I'll treat myself to a massage. Maintaining my well-being is crucial so I can fulfill all my obligations at my best,' she added.'Be The Next: 9 Dreamers,' a collaborative production by TV5 and MLD Entertainment PH, brings together 75 aspiring artists selected from global auditions held in 2024. These contestants will fiercely compete for nine coveted spots in a brand-new boy group, undergoing rigorous training under the guidance of a stellar lineup of mentors. The esteemed panel of mentors includes AB6IX's Park Woojin and Bang Ye-dam, Hori7on's Vinci, Hyebin (formerly of Momoland), choreographer Bae Wan Hee, producer Bullseye, and Exo's Chen. These mentors bring a wealth of experience to the show, each possessing unique insights into the qualities that define a successful idol. Bae Wan Hee, emphasizing the importance of hard work, stated, 'It will be incredibly challenging to make a selection, but for me, I would prioritize observing their dedication and diligence.' Vinci, the leader of the P-Pop group Hori7on, believes confidence is paramount. 'I am deeply honored to be a part of such an exceptional panel of mentors because Hori7on is relatively new to the industry, so it's a significant responsibility for me. However, as a young artist myself, I believe I can offer valuable perspectives on how to pursue their dreams. I hope to share insights on my own journey,' Vinci shared. He further elaborated, 'I think it's beneficial to utilize my leadership skills because I can also view my trainees as my members and assess how they can thrive as a collective. Regarding the qualities I seek, confidence and passion shine through in their performances.'Bullseye highlighted the delicate balance between talent and visual appeal, stating, 'The primary factor I would consider is the tone of their voice. Secondly, I would evaluate their visuals because K-Pop and P-Pop are not solely about singing; visuals play a crucial role as well.'Get ready to witness the emergence of global pop idols in 'Be the Next: 9 Dreamers,' premiering on February 8th. The show airs Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. and Sundays at 8:15 p.m., with weekday catch-up episodes at 11:30 p.m
