San Pablo City in Laguna, known as the City of Seven Lakes, is taking a step forward towards a greener planet with the Sampaloc Lake Floating Garden
Filter Project, a groundbreaking initiative of the Rotary Club of San Pablo City. Sampaloc Lake is a volcanic crater lake, situated in the heart of the city and the largest of the seven lakes of San Pablo. It was turned over to the Friends of the Seven Lakes Foundation which is dedicated to conservation, protection and rehabilitation of fresh water bodies in Laguna on Nov. 15, 2024. Filter Project.
Sampaloc Lake is a volcanic crater lake, situated in the heart of the City and the largest of the seven lakes of San Pablo City. The FGF is a groundbreaking initiative by the Rotary Club of San Pablo City.It was launched and turned over on Nov. 15 in a formal ceremony to the club’s beneficiary, the Friends of the Seven Lakes Foundation , a community-based volunteers dedicated to conservation, protection and rehabilitation of fresh water bodies in Laguna.
The FGF filter is an innovative and eco-friendly system designed to naturally clean the water using indigenous materials and plants and enhance the biodiversity in the area. One FGF was placed in Sampaloc Lake as a “proof of concept” project. The FGF filters will remove pollutants such as excess nutrients and promote a healthier and balance ecosystem.
The project was made possible through the funds of the Rotary of San Pablo City, Rotary Club of Liberty, Missouri, USA and Rotary International, with the support and cooperation of the Laguna Lake Development Authority under general manager Senando Santiago and the local government of San Pablo City under the leadership of Mayor Vicente Amante.
