30-year-old in custody pending bail hearing after incident on Sackville Road
At around 2 p.m. yesterday, Sault police were dispatched to a report of a robbery in a multi-unit building on Sackville Road.
A victim told police that a person “verbally threatened to harm them with a gun before taking cash from them.” The victim also told officers that the same person robbed them in early July while pointing a black handgun. None of the allegations have been tested in court and Benwell is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
