Salesman loses more than RM500,000 in Facebook scam FMTNews
Police say the salesman made several bank transfers and only realised he had been duped when the suspect broke contact.Sarawak police commissioner Azman Ahmad Sapri said the 33-year-old salesman at a telecommunications company in Padawan lodged a report on the case yesterday.
He said the victim had been attracted to an investment scheme offer on Facebook and contacted the suspect. “The suspect convinced the victim that a 20% profit would be paid out on the investment and told him to deposit money into several accounts. “Without doubting , the salesman made 19 money transfers totalling RM524,800 to seven bank accounts between April 28 and June 5.Azman advised the public to only invest on a platform registered with Bank Negara Malaysia and the Malaysian Securities Commission.
