IPOH: A married couple has been arrested by the police and some RM64,570 worth of drugs seized in Sitiawan, Manjung.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the couple are aged 28 and 29 and were arrested on Sunday at 12.05am.
Comm Mohd Yusri said police found and seized drugs believed to be heroin weighing 7,042g and 3,058g worth of cannabis. "The drugs are believed to be for distribution in the state and could be used by about 15,600 drug users."Also confiscated were one car, seven necklaces, six rings, four earrings and one nose ring worth RM72,332," he added.
Comm Mohd Yusri said both individuals are believed to have been drug distributors since early this year.In another case, Comm Mohd Yusri said police also arrested a 36-year-old man and seized various drugs worth RM38,792 at a house in Lawan Kuda, Gopeng in Kampar at about 12.30am the same day. "We found and seized 2,700g of ecstasy powder, caffeine , methamphetamine , heroin , 15 Eramin 5 pills and 11 ecstasy pills .Comm Mohd Yusri said the man tested positive for methamphetamine and had a record of 18 criminal cases, including for drugs."The drugs are for local distribution and could be used by 6,700 users," he said."All three individuals are being remanded for seven days from June 4 to 10," he added.
