KYIV — Russian forces unleashed on Monday a massive drone and missile barrage throughout Ukraine to target its energy infrastructure, killing at least three people and prompting emergency power cuts.
The barrage began at around midnight and continued after daybreak in what appeared to be Russia's biggest attack on its smaller, pro-West neighbor in weeks. Russian forces fired drones, cruise missiles and hypersonic ballistic Kinzhal missiles at 15 Ukrainian regions — more than half the country, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Monday morning.

Unfortunately, there is damage in a number of regions,' Shmyhal said, adding that state-owned power grid operator Ukrenergo had been forced to implement emergency power cuts to stabilize the system.
