The RMP issued the statement several days after the Department of Justice indicted four nuns and 11 others for allegedly soliciting funds intended to finance the terrorist activities of the CPP-NPA. However, RMP accused government authorities of threatening a supposed witness into issuing a sworn statement implicating its officers and members in the activities of the CPP-NPA, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by the Philippine government, the US Department of State and the European Union.
