All the indignant one-star Google reviews have got nothing on Shafiie, who is infamous for his temper and tasty plates of Malay-style fried chicken rice.
But all the one-star Google reviews inflicted no damage on the man, who has gone on to open an outlet atlast September. Last Friday , he soft-opened a new coffeeshop outlet called Mr Grumpy by Fiie’s Cafe at 43 Holland Drive, in the neighbourhood’s famous ‘red brick’ building near Buona Vista MRT station.
We notice the loud bright yellow signboard at the Holland Drive stall, which is emblazoned with a bold new claim: #1 Nasi Ayam Goreng In Town!. It is served with your choice of crispy chicken thigh or breast , battered and deep-fried to a golden finish, plus batter crumbs, cucumber slices and a yummy bowl of cloudy mee soto-style soup. We like the punchy sambal quail eggs and delicate bergedil here too.According to Shafiie, he prepares the fried chicken spice marinade at his Lucky Plaza shop before transporting it to his two hawker outlets. His staff then marinate and fry the chickens at the stalls.
