A former member of the Philippine National Police was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding suspects while driving his passenger tricycle in Pasay City on Saturday.
Police said that Cruz was just driving his passenger tricycle when the two suspects on board a scooter appeared behind him and suddenly shot Cruz who died immediately. Cruz’ body was later brought to the facility of Veronica Funeral Homes for autopsy while investigation is still underway.Amid the city’s week-long festivities in honor of its patron saint, a fire broke out at St. John the Baptist Church, locally known as the Pinaglabanan Church, in San Juan City Saturday night, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
Initial investigation revealed that its electrical wirings, which were recently rewired after a renovation, burst in flames due to an electrical short circuit. Due to the incident, the church announced on its Facebook page that the 5 a.m. Sunday mass was cancelled.
